Gen Con Preview Explosion!

Last Tuesday, a few of the Guilt Free Gamers met up at our favorite FLGS (Friendly Local Game Store) Myriad Games, located in Salem, NH.  Dan, FLGS owner, operator, and Guilt Free Games supporter, came back from Gen Con Indianapolis with a smorgasbord of gaming goodness: preview copies of some of the hottest and most anticipated releases dropping in the coming months! Only because I love you, I’ve compiled a small and incomplete list of what to be expecting in the days and weeks to come from the crew here at the Guilt Free offices:

chaosoldworldWarhammer: Chaos in the Old World, releasing this month. If you’re a fan of evil, glorious glorious evil, then this game will tickle you pink (Chaos Pink). Chaos in the Old World is a 2-4 player competitive conquest game set in Games Workshop’s Warhammer Fantasy universe. It features 4 playable factions, all of which are delightfully cruel and malignant Demons. Right up my alley. Gameplay is fast and winning depends on hard strategy and lucky dice.

I think he bald guys the cylon this time.

Battlestar Galactica: Pegasus Expansion is another game we scored, also releasing later this month. This expansion features harder challenges, new bits that add even more detail to the battlestars that shipped in the original game, and much more. While I personally haven’t had any hands-on time with this game yet, expect an impression and in-depth review in the near future.

Beware of fruit molesting robots.

Penny Arcade: The Card Game releasing in Fall 2009. This fast and fun card game features art and concepts from the popular episodic video-game Penny Arcade Adventures, as well as the Penny Arcade Comic itself, if that wasn’t obvious. The game ships with 2 premade decks that host special player cards for Tyco and Gabe, with accompanying cards that feature art specific to those characters.

I think the red bricks are Swine Flu.

Pandemic: On the brink, releasing this month.  This is the highly anticipated expansion to game designer Matt Leacock’s fantastic cooperative disease-epidemic board game. The expansion brings in a couple of new elements, including the ability for a player to play as a bioterrorist against the other players, as well as a new mutation feature that ramps up the overall difficulty (as if it wasn’t hard enough!).
